About Liz: Liz first began doing yoga during graduate school in 2009 and immediately found it to be a refreshing way to engage the body and mind. Through the years, Liz’s appreciation for yoga’s ability to connect the mind and body grew, as did her desire to learn more about the practice. As Liz continued to develop her career in social work, she saw the profound affect, as well as growing research, that supports the engagement of the body in emotional well-being. While working as aLicensed Clinical Social Work, Liz decided to pursue a yoga teacher training program. In 2017, Liz completed a nine-month RYT-200 training course at Bloom Yoga Studio in Chicago. In this Liz continued to foster her appreciation for both rigorous classes as well as the balance with a more gentle approach. Liz is exploring how she can utilize yoga in her clinical work and also teaches in traditional studio settings.

Liz teaches a Hatha style class incorporating a Vinyasa flow, coordinating breath with movement. Liz’s classes are usually set to contemporary music and include a restorative rest at the end of each practice.

Instructor: Vanessa Thompson

About Vanessa: Vanessa took her first yoga class in Chengdu, China during a study abroad in 2008. She could barely understand what the teacher was saying, but the sense of community and well-being needed no translation. Ever since then Vanessa has been going to yoga classes in her hometown of Iowa City, and in Chicago. Through yoga she found a greater awareness of breath, mind and body. Yoga has been a way for Vanessa to step away from the distractions of life to focus on the challenge of linking movement and mind. The combination of challenge and the feeling of physical and mental release at the end of class is something she carries with her off the mat. Whenever Vanessa moves to a new neighborhood the first things she looks for are the yoga studio and the library. Over the years Vanessa has been a part of many yoga communities, and been inspired by some wonderful teachers. Having been given such a great gift, in 2017 she completed the 200-hour teacher training program at Bloom Yoga in Chicago hoping to be able to inspire her own students. Vanessa believes in creating a space that is welcoming to all students where everyone can follow their own path.

Instructor: Tiffany Seybert

About Tiffany: Tiffany Seybert has studied with luminaries of the musical world. She earned her music degree at Roosevelt in Chicago. She's also the founder of Tarpit, one of four bands to start Crank Records in the 90's. She completed a 30-year career in global banking and is now a fintech exec, working for a UK company at her Rogers Park office. She has advanced Kundalini teaching credentials and has taught publicly and privately for ten years. In Jan 2016 she piloted a three-month program called Cop To Yoga® at the Chicago Police 24th district. The short, free, weekly classes are comprised of Kundalini breath work meditations done while listening to classical music. It's a powerful realignment that quickly delivers a calming counter balance to the unique stresses of being a CPD officer. The cops voted unanimously to continue the program; we're in our tenth month. The goal is to make Cop To Yoga programs available to all CPD personnel. Instructor: Safia Al-Ajlan

About Safia: A native of Kuwait, Safia’s journey with yoga started while she was doing her master's degree at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 2012.

She decided to try yoga as a way to help her ease the tensions of a graduate student and from there found herself going to classes weekly. Yoga was a great tool for Safia to take a break from the modern world by resting her mind and strengthening her body.

After moving to the Chicago area in 2016, Safia decided to take her practice further by enrolling in Bloom Yoga Studio’s 200 hour teacher training. Her teachers at Bloom taught her to sequence safe classes that are welcoming to all.

Safia prioritizes a mindful approach to her flow classes and is passionate about introducing restorative poses towards the end of her classes. She enjoys incorporating yoga philosophy and mindfulness meditations for daily life in her classes.

What Safia loves most about yoga is how the rich and beautiful philosophy behind the practice and her background and work in environmental sciences complement each other. Both fields of study strive to build a more harmonious world for all.

To further deepen her yoga education, Safia is also enrolled in the 85- hour prenatal yoga teacher training at Bloom and graduated in June 2017.
