Berger Park Happenings:
Our American Dream
Nothing Without a Company and PlayLab Productions are proud to present: Our American Dream, part of Nothing Without a Company's monthly Berger Park Happenings events.
Our American Dream is a partially improvised, immersive, participatory, buffoon show. Through physical and slapstick comedy, The Fruit Bunch will have you laughing and playing along while walking through the footsteps of an immigrant’s idealization of the American dream. The PlayLab Production principles of performance (playfulness, love, concentration, practice, skill, the power of limits, the power of mistakes, risk-taking, surrender, patience, courage, audience participation and trust) as used by the Fruit Bunch will propel this dynamic, visceral comedy show into an experience you'll never forget. Wear fancy dress appropriate for mess!
MANGO Braggadocio and CoCo Nut are stylized, grotesque buffoons known as The Fruit Bunch. They are driven by their extreme emotions. MANGO and CoCo Nut use archetypal movements, gestures, costuming and props. Their comedic style is bizarre, surreal, magical, socio-political and grotesquely charming. These characters always use the entire performance space and engage the audience to play along with them. MANGO and CoCo Nut have performed devised material and improvisations during routines at burlesque, fringe and storefront theaters as well as roaming, street and guerilla performances.
Starring Mari DeOleo as MANGO Braggadocio
Lee Brophy as CoCo Nut
This is a PAY-WHAT-YOU-CAN / ONE-TIME-ONLY performance. Half of the proceeds will go to the artists, and half will go to Nothing Without a Company's partnership with Berger Park.
