Saturday, August 19th
10:30am at Berger Park Cultural Center
Instructor: Safia Al-Ajlan
About Safia: A native of Kuwait, Safia’s journey with yoga started while she was doing her master's degree at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon in 2012.
She decided to try yoga as a way to help her ease the tensions of a graduate student and from there found herself going to classes weekly. Yoga was a great tool for Safia to take a break from the modern world by resting her mind and strengthening her body.
After moving to the Chicago area in 2016, Safia decided to take her practice further by enrolling in Bloom Yoga Studio’s 200 hour teacher training. Her teachers at Bloom taught her to sequence safe classes that are welcoming to all.
Safia prioritizes a mindful approach to her flow classes and is passionate about introducing restorative poses towards the end of her classes. She enjoys incorporating yoga philosophy and mindfulness meditations for daily life in her classes.
What Safia loves most about yoga is how the rich and beautiful philosophy behind the practice and her background and work in environmental sciences complement each other. Both fields of study strive to build a more harmonious world for all.
To further deepen her yoga education, Safia is also enrolled in the 85- hour prenatal yoga teacher training at Bloom and graduated in June 2017.
