Talk back Saturday September 21 & 28 at 4:30pm

For the first hour you are invited to sing and talk story with Uncle Makana (from Not One Batu) and his 'ohana (family) at a karaoke party! Make sure to meet his grandson Junior Boy who comes from a lineage of marijuana growers on the North Shore of O'ahu and is now proudly expecting a baby with his girlfriend, Nani. During a night of karaoke, beer, and weed, the medical uses, benefits, and cultural aspects of marijuana and it’s self care are discussed. What follows is unexpected and heartbreaking as we witness Junior Boy's struggle to do what he believes is best for his 'ohana.

This prequel to Not One Batu follow's Papa's family and is the second in Ii-Epstein's trilogy of drug plays set on the North Shore of O'ahu. Pakalolo Sweet had its debut run at Kumu Kahua Theatre in Honolulu in 2018 and will have its mainland premiere here in Chicago September 2019.
